Windows Vista
Introduction
Windows Vista, a significant release from Microsoft, was introduced to the public on January 30, 2007. Known for its advanced visual display, courtesy of the Windows Aero interface, and enhanced security features, Vista represented a major overhaul of the Windows operating system. Development for Vista began in 2001 under the codename “Longhorn,” and it included several new features initially planned for a subsequent version of Windows, codenamed “Blackcomb.”
Vista aimed to provide a more aesthetic and user-friendly experience with its new user interface and improved graphics. However, despite its advancements, Vista faced criticism for its high system requirements and compatibility issues with existing hardware and software. This led to a mixed reception, with some users continuing to use Windows XP or waiting for the release of Windows 7. Mainstream support for Windows Vista ended in 2012, with extended support concluding in 2017.
